Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s first Shark Tank investors. Since her inception she has appeared on every seasons of Shark Tank. As of February 2020 she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in a Catholic Irish working class family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's early years. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who was drunk often and treated her mother with disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle in school and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was educated in a Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
