Jennifer Rene Psaki

Jennifer Rene Psaki is an American political advisor who worked as the 34th White House press secretary from 2021 until 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, Psaki was previously the White House deputy secretary (2009), White House deputy communication director (2009-2011) as well as spokesperson for the United States Department of State 2013-2015 and White House communications Director (2015-2017). Psaki was a political contributor to CNN between 2017 and 2020. Psaki started her professional career with an Iowa Democratic senator, Tom Harkin, and later became governor of Iowa. Psaki was later appointed deputy press secretary to John Kerry's presidential campaign in 2004. Psaki worked as the communications director to Joseph Crowley in the U.S. and also as the regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Psaki returned in 2012 for political communications and was the press secretary of President Obama's 2012 reelection campaign. [20] Psaki was appointed spokesperson for the United States Department of State in February 2013. Her appointment in the Department of State fueled speculation that she would succeed White House Press Secretary Jay Carney after he left the White House. However on May 30, 2014 it was announced Josh Earnest would replace Carney. She returned to the White House in 2015 to serve as communications director. She remained with the Obama administration until the end of its term.
